North Carolina proposes law requiring data breaches to be reported in 15 days
North Carolina Attorney General Josh Stein and State Rep. Jason Saine have introduced legislation that would require organizations to report data breaches to consumers and the attorney general within 15 days. The proposed bill also includes measures such as free credit freezes and credit monitoring for affected consumers, and access to free credit reports. If passed, North Carolina would have one of the strictest data breach notification laws in the US.
