Scientists at the University of Texas at Dallas and Vanderbilt University Medical Center have been awarded a $200,000 grant to develop an open-source tool that can help providers and policymakers make more informed decisions about how they share COVID-19 patient data. The tool aims to assess the risks of sharing data that could potentially identify patients and ensure that data sharing is done with patient privacy in mind. Concerns about patient privacy have arisen as COVID-19 research continues and contact-tracing apps become more widespread.
