Nurses have a deep distrust of AI – but transparency and training could help

The California Nurses Association protested against Kaiser Permanente’s use of artificial intelligence (AI) in nursing, citing concerns about job displacement and patient safety. They argued that AI should not replace human assessment of patients or risk compromising patient data. While some healthcare professionals see the potential of AI to reduce bureaucratic burdens and improve patient monitoring, the Association is demanding greater involvement in AI deployment decisions.
