OAIC releases statement on MediSecure data breach

The Australian Information Commissioner’s Office (OAIC) has responded to a data breach involving e-prescription service MediSecure. Privacy commissioner Carly Kind stressed the importance of protecting individuals’ personal information, while the National Cyber Security Coordinator is having government-wide meetings to co-ordinate a response. The breach does not impact current prescriptions, reassured the Australian Medical Association Queensland’s vice-president, Dr Nick Yim.
