Office of Public Affairs | Multiple Foreign Nationals Charged in Connection with Trickbot Malware and Conti Ransomware Conspiracies

Nine Russian nationals have been indicted across three US federal jurisdictions for their alleged involvement in the Trickbot malware and Conti ransomware schemes. Between them, they caused tens of millions of dollars worth of damage to several US industries. The accused used Trickbot to steal money and install ransomware, while Conti was used to attack over 900 victims globally, making it the most detrimental ransomware variant in 2021, according to the FBI.
