Office of Public Affairs | Russian National Pleads Guilty to Trickbot Malware Conspiracy

Vladimir Dunaev, a Russian national, pleaded guilty to his role in developing and deploying the Trickbot malware which was used to deploy ransomware attacks on American hospitals and businesses. Dunaev developed tools facilitating remote access to infected computers and prevented malware detection. He was extradited from South Korea to the US in 2021 and faces a maximum penalty of 35 years in prison.
