The US government has filed a fraud lawsuit against Georgia Tech, claiming that cybersecurity expert Dr. Emmanouil Antonakakis and the university repeatedly failed to follow basic security protocols while conducting military tech research. This negligence, which included not installing antivirus software due to Antonakakis’ personal opposition, led to the Department of Defense (DoD) paying for tech stored in an insecure environment. Georgia Tech allegedly still billed the DoD while not adhering to contract rules.
