Accenture has been awarded a two-year contract by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) to help identify the standards and specifications needed for data exchange in healthcare. Accenture will work with ONC to develop “use cases” that will determine the necessary standards and IT systems. The use cases will focus on patient-related information and ensure that care providers can handle patient requests for clinical summaries. The goal is to achieve interoperability, reduce costs, and improve healthcare quality and access.
