Ransomware-as-a-service (RaaS) has become the preferred tool for cybercriminals in 2023, according to a report by OpenText. The study also identified Cl0p, Black Cat, Akira, Royal, Lockbit 3.0, and Black Basta as the “nastiest” malware of the year with Cl0p significantly increasing the average ransom payment. However, while average payments are up, fewer organizations are deciding to pay, indicating a greater investment in security to avoid paying ransoms.
