‘Out of date’ IT system leaves NHS at risk of further cyber attacks

The founding CEO of the UK’s National Cyber Security Centre, Professor Ciaran Martin, warned that outdated IT systems within the NHS could leave it vulnerable to further cyber attacks. Over 6,000 appointments were postponed due to a June ransomware attack, and patient data stolen in the attack has since been published online. Martin highlighted outdated IT, identifying vulnerabilities and improving basic security practices as key issues.
