‘Out of date’ IT system leaves NHS at risk of further cyber attacks

A cyber attack in June led to over 6,000 appointments & procedures at London hospitals being postponed. Expert, Professor Martin noted that ransomware attacks on healthcare are a major issue worldwide, highlighting the outdated IT systems in various parts of the NHS. Data stolen from the attack was published online, with NHS England confirming it involves almost 400GB of information, including patient names & descriptions of blood tests, but full details of affected individuals are still unknown.
