Outgoing HHS CISO Chris Wlaschin opens up about his departure
Chris Wlaschin, the Chief Information Security Officer of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), will be leaving his position on March 31. He cites family reasons, specifically his mother-in-law being diagnosed with Stage Four Lymphoma, as the cause for his sudden departure. Janet Vogel, the Chief Information Officer of the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, will replace him. There have been controversies surrounding the removal of two cybersecurity leaders under Wlaschin. Wlaschin stated that he has faith in HHS to handle these events appropriately.
