Outsourcing giant Capita fears customer data stolen during ransomware attack

British outsourcing company Capita has said that hackers may have accessed and exfiltrated customer data during a cyberattack last month. It did not disclose how many customers have been affected or what types of data were accessed. This follows a report stating that the Russian-speaking Black Basta ransomware group, which claimed responsibility for the attack, published personal data belonging to those applying for jobs at schools. The company has restored most affected client services and employee access to Microsoft 365.
