P2PInfect malware variant targets IoT devices
Cado Security has discovered a new version of the P2PInfect botnet, which targets IoT devices using Microprocessor without Interlocked Pipelined Stages (MIPS) architecture. The Rust-based P2PInfect malware uses evasion techniques such as self-termination under analysis and disabling Linux core dumps. The researchers suggest P2PInfect’s expansion indicates the involvement of a sophisticated threat actor.
