‘Patch early, patch often’: HHS cyber arm issues warning on zero-day attacks

Kat Jercich December 1, 2021

The US Department of Health and Human Services’ cybersecurity arm has warned about the increasing risk of zero-day attacks to the healthcare system. Zero-day attacks exploit vulnerabilities before patches are available, and the number of such exploits caught in the wild has risen significantly. The agency recommends patching systems regularly and using web-application firewalls and self-protection agents to mitigate the risks. Federal agencies have also highlighted other cyber threats to the healthcare sector, including ransomware attacks.
