Pharmacy deserts disproportionately affect vulnerable communities across the U.S.

Nearly half of U.S. counties contain ‘pharmacy deserts’ where there are no retail pharmacies within 10 miles, according to a study from Ohio State University. These deserts lead to health disparities as people find it more difficult to access medication. Vulnerable communities and those with fewer primary care providers are up to 40% more likely to live in such areas.
