Phishing hack on Ohio provider breaches data of 42,000 patients for a month
Ohio-based Aultman Health Foundation experienced a phishing attack that potentially compromised the data of 42,600 patients. The attack lasted for over a month before it was discovered and hackers gained access to several email accounts. Although the breached emails did not contain EHR data, they did include some patient information. Aultman has implemented increased security measures and is offering free identity protection to affected patients. Phishing attacks have become a common method of attack in the healthcare sector.
