Spartan Technology reportedly secured a cloud storage bucket containing personally identifiable information (PII) of thousands within the South Carolina justice system. The data included details of 5.2 million arrest events, crime victims, witnesses and those charged. UpGuard Research discovered the information, to which any Amazon user had access. The exposed database, part of a system for use by South Carolina’s district attorneys, had been generated between 2008 and 2018. Spartan was praised for its fast action in securing the sensitive data.
