Premier lists rule relaxations that should be made permanent, post-pandemic

Mike Miliard June 8, 2020

Premier, the healthcare alliance, has urged Congress and the US Department of Health and Human Services to make some two-dozen federal regulatory waivers, introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic, permanent. The waivers have highlighted opportunities to modernize healthcare delivery by removing outdated regulations, particularly in relation to telehealth. Premier also supports amendments to the Emergency Medical Treatment and Labor Act and changes to process rules that enable nurse practitioners and physician assistants to practice autonomously. A recent survey showed that 93% of Premier health system members believe the waivers should be made permanent.
