The UK’s Information Commissioners Office (ICO) has urged organisations to start deploying Privacy-Enhancing Technologies (PETs) such as anonymisation tools, encryption techniques, and others for secure and anonymous sharing of personal information. The ICO issued guidelines for large organisations and technical audiences on how to achieve data protection compliance using PETs. It stressed the need for due diligence when integrating these technologies into business systems and called for collaboration between data protection officers, IT departments and legal teams to avoid data breaches while ensuring compliance.
