The Health IT Privacy and Security Tiger team has outlined its agenda for addressing urgent health information privacy policy gaps before the meaningful use plan goes into effect next year. The team will focus on issues related to health information exchange programs funded by the Office of the National Coordinator, including projects related to the Nationwide Health Information Network (NHIN). They will also cover issues raised by state health information organizations funded by ONC. However, some team members have criticized the approach and expressed concerns about the complexities of the issues being addressed. The team will meet next on July 9 to discuss data reuse and retention.
