Privatisation of public services could breach GDPR laws

siteadmin July 6, 2023

The UK government may be violating its own data protection laws by farming out digital public services to private firms, warns a report by the Trades Union Congress. Government promises to invest in the sector has led to controversial contracts with firms like Palantir for tasks including UC and NHS data collection. Critics argue this privatization threatens public services, and risks democracy, secrecy and rights issues.
