Project bags grant for Australia’s first national injury surveillance system

An Australian multi-institutional research team striving to create the country’s first national injury surveillance system has gained a $2m grant from the government’s Medical Research Future Fund. The project will apply AI to analyse emergency department data across Australia to detect risks such as domestic violence, drug misuse, self-harm and workplace hazards. Ultimately, they aim to inform health initiatives and policy, and prioritise key populations.
