PwC’s HSE hack post-incident report should be a textbook for leaders

The Health Services Executive (HSE) in Ireland faced a severe Conti ransomware attack in 2021, which impacted more than 80% of their IT estate and resulted in service cancellations at 31 out of 54 hospitals. The incident was attributed to the lack of a Chief Information Security Officer and poor cybersecurity practices according to a PwC post-incident report. The report outlined recommendations for establishing clear responsibilities for IT and cybersecurity.
