Qakbot Hackers Continue to Push Malware After Takedown Attempt

Cybercriminals behind the Qakbot malware have continued their activities despite recent attempts by law enforcement to dismantle their infrastructure. They are now distributing ransomware and backdoors, with Cisco’s Talos research group suggesting they were unaffected by the police operation. Qakbot, often delivered via spam emails, allows criminals to gain initial system access and then distribute other malware. The recent law enforcement activities included taking over Qakbot infrastructure and the seizure of millions in cryptocurrency.
