Qilin ransomware gang likely behind crippling NHS attack

The Qilin ransomware gang, based in Russia, is believed to be behind a massive cyber attack on Synnovis, a health service lab partner. The attack disrupted primary care services across South London and forced the NHS to declare a critical incident. NHS trusts, hospitals, GP surgeries, clinics, and services relying on Synnovis services were affected. While the UK government prohibits public sector organisations from paying ransoms, Synnovis, a private sector organisation, is not under such restrictions.
