Ransomware attack hits dozens of Romanian hospitals

Over 100 Romanian healthcare facilities, including children’s and emergency hospitals, were targeted by a ransomware attack that encrypted essential files. The attackers demanded a ransom of 3.5 Bitcoin (over £130,000) to unlock the files. However, officials claim the backup of recent data should mitigate the impact. Investigations are underway, with 79 other institutions taken offline as a precaution. The perpetrators have yet to be identified.
