A ransomware attack on St. Joseph’s/Candler health system in Georgia compromised the records of 1.4 million patients. The attack occurred between December 2020 and June 2021, resulting in files becoming inaccessible. In a separate incident, Long Island Jewish Forest Hills Hospital in New York experienced unauthorized EHR access by a former employee affecting 10,333 patients. Both organizations are implementing additional safeguards to prevent future incidents.
