Ransomware computer attack on London hospitals still ‘critical’ incident with operations cancelled

A ransomware cyberattack has disrupted operations at major hospitals in London, three days after it was first detected. The ransomware targeted Synnovis, a computer firm serving the pathology departments of hospitals such as King’s College and St Thomas’. This has made blood transfusion services and test results more difficult, and non-urgent operations have been postponed. NHS staff are working to minimise the disruption and re-arrange appointments. Synnovis and the National Cyber Security Centre are investigating the attack.
