Ransomware gang leaks stolen Scottish healthcare patient data in extortion bid

Cyber extortionists have published sensitive patient data stolen from NHS Dumfries and Galloway on their darkweb blog to demand a ransom from the health board. The ransomware group, INC Ransom, claims to hold terabytes of data and has threatened to release more unless an extortion fee is paid. This follows a series of ransomware attacks on healthcare organisations. The British government has recently been accused of ignoring the “large and imminent” national threat posed by ransomware.
