Ransomware was used in 72% of network intrusions last year, says BakerHostetler

BakerHostetler’s 2024 Data Security Incident Response Report found that 27% of organizations hit with ransomware or extorted in 2023 paid a ransom, primarily for a decryptor. It noted that healthcare, biotech, and pharma sectors accounted for the most incidents. The report highlighted the efficacy of endpoint detection and response tool usage, patching, and resilient backup strategies in preventing or mitigating attacks and restoring systems without needing a decryptor.
