Recovery from cyber attack that cancelled thousands of hospital appointments to take months, NHS admits

It will take several months for UK hospitals to recover from a major cyberattack that resulted in thousands of appointment cancellations. Hospitals’ pathology services were targeted by ransomware, affecting more than 800 planned operations and 700 outpatient appointments. Cybercriminals from Russia are reportedly behind the ransomware attack on pathology service provider Synnovis, which was forced to destroy the majority of the 8,000 blood samples it had received since the attack. Recovery will take a significant amount of time and result in continued disruption.
