Recovery from cyber attack that cancelled thousands of hospital appointments to take months, NHS admits

A ransomware attack on King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust has caused significant disruption, cancelling more than 800 operations and 700 outpatient appointments. The hit on pathology service provider Synnovis led to thousands of blood tests being cancelled and the destruction of most of the samples acquired since the attack. Full recovery is expected to take months, with a plan underway to begin restoring some IT functionality.
