Recovery from cyber attack that cancelled thousands of hospital appointments to take months, NHS admits
A major cyber attack on Synnovis, the trusts’ pathology service provider for King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, has resulted in the cancellation of over 800 planned operations and 700 outpatient appointments. Recovery will take months and result in further disruptions. Russian cybercriminals are reportedly behind the ransomware attack. Some patients have been sent to St George’s University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust for treatment.
