Recovery from cyber attack that cancelled thousands of hospital appointments to take months, NHS admits
Hospitals in the UK are set to take months to recover from a major cyber attack that forced the cancellation of thousands of appointments.The ransomware attack hit pathology services at King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, leading to the cancellation of more than 800 planned surgeries and 700 outpatient appointments.Russian cyber criminals are believed to be behind the attack.Synnovis, the trusts’ pathology service provider, can now only process 400 of its usual 10,000 daily blood tests.
