Recovery from cyber attack that cancelled thousands of hospital appointments to take months, NHS admits

The UK health service faces months of disruption following a major cyber-attack on two London NHS trusts which caused the cancellation of more than 800 operations and 700 outpatient appointments. Hospitals are currently only able to complete 400 of the daily 10,000 blood tests. The hack, blamed on Russian cybercriminals, affected the trusts’ pathology service provider, Synnovis, forcing the company to destroy most of recent 8,000 blood samples received.
