Remote patient monitoring in Medicare needs more oversight: OIG
The HHS’ Office of Inspector General has called for better regulation of Medicare’s remote patient monitoring, citing concerns over potential fraud. Around 43% of Medicare beneficiaries receiving these services did not get all elements required, such as the monitoring device, education, and treatment management. The OIG highlighted that critical information, such as what data is being monitored, is often missing, complicating oversight efforts.
