Report: Australia loves the cloud – but it’s making malware delivery easier than ever

A recent study by cybersecurity firm Netskope reveals that Australians heavily rely on the cloud, using an average of 30 cloud-based apps daily, compared to the global average of 22. However, this extensive cloud usage has made Australia a top target for malware delivery via the cloud, accounting for 64% of all delivery methods, exceeding the global average of 56%. Notably, OneDrive and SharePoint are common sources of malicious payloads. Legacy security systems are often ill-equipped to defend against these threats, highlighting the need for enhanced monitoring and detection capabilities for cloud applications.
