Rising Healthcare Data Breaches Highlight Urgent Need for Enhanced Cybersecurity Measures

More than 28.5 million healthcare records were breached in the US in 2022, up from 21.1 million in 2019. Ransomware attacks continue to be a major threat to the sector, due, in part, to the industry’s heavy reliance on custom applications with insufficient security testing, multiple third-party partners and a high number of connected devices. These breaches have a significant impact on patient safety and have resulted in multiple fatalities.
