Royal Berkshire Hospital states high numbers have led to breaches
The Royal Berkshire Hospital has experienced 1,096 breaches of mixed-sex accommodation rules in 2024, triggering concerns over patient privacy and dignity. A report by Blackwater Law points out potential psychological distress caused by such breaches. The hospital cited high emergency department attendance and space limitations as reasons for the breaches. Earlier, hospitals were fined £250 per breach, which if still applicable, would have cost the hospital £274,000 in 2024.
