Royal Mail hit by Russia-linked cyber attack
Royal Mail’s ability to despatch international mail has been halted since Wednesday, 11 January, due to a ransomware attack claimed by LockBit, a hacker group with alleged links to Russia. The Royal Mail’s computer system used to prepare and track international mail was affected, disrupting services. The public is advised not to send overseas mail until resolved. Royal Mail is working to fix the issue and has reported the attack to the National Cyber Security Centre, National Crime Agency, and the Information Commissioner’s Office.
