Rural hospitals: The forgotten frontier needs advocates for a better model

Healthcare access has always been a problem in rural areas where residents and healthcare providers face unique challenges. Not having many hospitals nearby and a scarcity of physicians have made the problem worse. Rural hospitals are often overlooked because of their small budget operations, and being in the rural areas (“flyover zones”), they mostly get ignored unless it’s a major event. They also lack strong advocates. Dr. Jay Anders has suggested that newer technologies such as cloud-based services can help rural hospitals offer better healthcare in such situations.
