Russian criminals behind ‘critical’ cyber-attack at south east London hospitals

Cyber criminals from Russia, known as Qilin, have disrupted operations at major southeast London hospitals by attacking pathology firm Synnovis with ransomware. The incident has disrupted tests, blood transfusions, and other services at hospitals such as Guy’s and St Thomas’ and King’s College Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. These types of attacks have a significant impact on healthcare around the world, but this is one of the most severe incidents seen in the UK.
