Russian pleads guilty in US to role in Trickbot malware scheme
Vladimir Dunaev, a 40-year-old Russian man, has pleaded guilty to involvement in creating the Trickbot malware used to extort businesses, including hospitals during the Covid-19 pandemic. Dunaev was extradited from South Korea to the US and is facing charges of conspiracy to commit computer fraud, identity theft, wire fraud, and bank fraud. He is scheduled for sentencing on March 20 and could face up to 35 years in prison.
