Russian Sandworm hackers breached 11 Ukrainian telcos since May

The Russian hacking group ‘Sandworm’ has compromised 11 telecom service providers in Ukraine between May to September 2023, according to Ukraine’s Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-UA). The hackers reportedly interfered with the communication systems, causing service interruptions and potential data breaches. The attacks used phishing lures, Android malware, data-wipers, and compromised VPN accounts, targeting telco networks with specific toolkits.
