Russian state hackers spread USB worm worldwide

Researchers have discovered a USB-propagating “worm” developed by state-backed Russian hackers and targeting Ukraine, which is now spreading globally. Cybersecurity firm Check Point Software reports that the virus, dubbed the LitterDrifter, is difficult to contain, as it spreads via USB drives, and can now be found in countries including the US, Vietnam, Chile, Poland and Germany. The worm, which operates via a hidden file, allows data to be transmitted back to the attackers.
