SamSam ransomware hackers still targeting healthcare, HHS warns
The US Department of Health and Human Services has warned that the SamSam ransomware is still targeting the healthcare and government sectors. HHS officials recommend using firewalls and two-factor authentication to restrict access and prevent brute-force attacks. It also advised organisations to use data backup and develop contingency plans to ensure business continuity in case of ransomware attacks. The SamSam ransomware has been active since 2016, with an increase in attacks seen since December 2017.
