San Francisco’s Empty Offices Might Start Converting Into Housing
San Francisco’s downtown area is set to see some of its empty office buildings transformed into residential units, amid a loss of roughly 150,000 daily workers since Covid-19 began. Eight office buildings responded to the city’s request for interest in conversion, potentially adding around 1,100 residential units. This comes after March’s legislation introduced by Mayor London Breed and the Board of Supervisors to facilitate such conversions.
