siteadmin October 9, 2013

Mid Staffordshire NHS Foundation Trust has admitted breaching health and safety law after a patient died when nurses failed to administer insulin. Gillian Astbury, 66, lapsed into a coma in 2007 due to the lapse. The trust pleaded guilty to failing to ensure safety, however, no staff will face charges. The trust could now be fined tens of thousands of pounds. Inquiries suggest that hundreds of patients may have died unnecessarily between 2005 and 2009.
