Scanning an unsettled and unsettling cyberthreat landscape

At the HIMSS21 Healthcare Cybersecurity Forum, experts warned that the cyberthreat landscape is becoming increasingly sophisticated and alarming. Nation-state actors like China, Russia, and North Korea are growing in sophistication, while ransomware attacks targeting healthcare are becoming an epidemic. Recent trends include right-to-left override attacks, social engineering tricks, and the spread of state-sponsored spyware. The use of AI for cyberattacks is also a major concern. The healthcare industry needs to improve its security practices to keep up with these developments. Ransomware attacks will continue as long as they remain lucrative for criminals.
